It sounds like you need to check out your fuel system. Get rid of the stock vent hose and go with a gas cap breather and don't forget to drill out the petcock, they don't flow much. When you pull the petcock yank the filter screens and put in an inline filter from an auto parts store.

Something doesn't sound right if you are getting white plugs with that rich of jetting, I went through the same thing until I modified the whole fuel system. If you fixed all the problems then possibly the problem is in the inlet to the carb?
