Default Cleaning ATV's??

Since I have to park mine in the garage they need to be totally cleaned before I put them in or it's a major mess to clean up. The best way I've found is to spray the entire quad with Pam (baking spray) not just under the fenders but the whole quad, this makes hosing the mud off a LOT easier as most of it falls off while riding. I hose off most of the mud then take a bottle of Awsome Cleaner from Dollar Tree stores, use about half of it but spray down the whole quad and let it sit for a few minutes then hit it with the hose.....cleans very well, is environmentally safe and cheap. I have a lot of mud around me right now so when I get home I just park in the lawn and hose it off there, all the dirt gets into the grass and not on my driveway or gutters....my neighbors probably think I'm nutz, three times this week I've been out there cleaning them and last Saturday I was standing in pouring rain hosing off my quad LOL.

Well, not an option at the minute but I'm going to put a gate in my backyard fence but until I build a storage shed no point in that. Believe it or not, in my two car garage I have three quads, a dirt bike a streetbike a single trailer (one quad on it) and I can get my car or pickup in there as well....no where to move but it works for now.

I use Simple Green & water - 50/50.
Then with a rag I wipe down the big, open stuff. Then I use a toothbrush for everything else.

pressure wash followed by WD-40 (BY THE GALLON). the pressure washer by my house has a setting called SPOT FREE RINSE. Its actually filtered or deionized water to remove salt and calcium that leaves spots and rust behind. OH and lots of rags.

not to sound like a smart a... but, what sensors do you mean? temp sending unit, oil sending unit? ive been doing this for about a year & a half & no problems yet. i think these sensors are proabably made to handel a blast of water every now & then. again not to be a wise guy, but it is an all terrain vehicle right? the only areas that really need to be blasted heavily are usually the suspension. No doubt, you can do some good damage eg. radiator, bearings, ignition box. i do not blast above the bottom of the carb & lightly hit the fenders ect. Im not one of those guys that decides hes going to pressure wash his engine compartment & pays no mind to the distributor & or ignition system and ends up waiting for & paying the tow truck driver and mechanic. YOU HAVE TO USE COMMON SENSE. (or is it uncommon sense now days). please dont take this the wrong way. just dont want you to get the wrong impression of me.

No problem. We are here for each other to bounce ideas and questions off each other. Learning from others mistakes or just learning.
The sensors are protected by a rubber boot. Direct to much pressure on one and it may cause it to malfunction. My oil sensor took a hit from the hose while cleaning and the red light came on. I took it out and cleaned/dried it and it slowly came back to life. Others have replaced them. I think there was a recall on 04 models for the boot.
Okay, off to work I go! KILL! KILL! KILL!
