A helmet would be a good idea, however, if he went over at the speed that thing's capable of, there'd just be a pulpy mess spread out over a very long distance.....lol. That bike is the baddest DS I've ever seen, and it just keeps getting better....

Nice. How much bigger of a turbo did you go?? Have you gotten to try out the new setup yet??
I went from a 0.35 exhaust A/R to a 0.67 exhaust A/R. The 0.35 was too small restricting topend flow. The 0.67 breathes musch better off boost and flows a ton on top. The 0.67 actually spools about the same as the 0.35. I'm running the same turbo that KMS runs.

I've had the DS out twice with the bigger turbo. First time with the 14 paddles though. 14 paddles is about right for my chassis setup on the flats.

TheChosenOne, I recommend going with the KMS location, my location is too tight. Closer to exhaust ports will have more heat available and potentially spool slightly faster. My setup can be ridden on the dunes not just raced. The turbo comes up around 4000RPM but you have to open her up (i.e. load motor) to build full boost which occurs at 6000-7000 RPM when riding. The 10K launches are to ensure tires are broken loose and to stay competitive against very lightweight 2-strokes off the line. I got rid of the intercooler for the fastest spooling and least restriction. On alcohol an intercooler isn't as important as on gas.

My turbo setup wouldn't be as much for drags as it would just casual riding that we do. It seems though to be the best mod for the cost to power ratio. Also the power would be on tap for when you ever do need it. I'd rather the turbo than a big bore stroker.
The reason I asked about spool times is if i wasn't racing hard, would the turbo still be effective in shorter throttle durations that one would experience in trails and whatnot. we do also ride a lot of open fields and friendly drags and such, there's just not too many people around here who ride.
Thanks for the information so far and if we come up with any other questions we'll let you know.
