Clutch adjustment
After burning the clutch up in my baja, I was concerned about the same thing happening to my ds650. I dont ride this one much, so when i checked the clutch cable it was sloppy. I did the adjustment to the cable cleaned up most of the slop. The clutch release lever is exactly where it states it should be in the book. The problem is when you squeeze the clutch and put it in first gear it will roll forward about 6 inches. I never noticed this before.Dont know if i am just being over concerned or what, but my baja when it is able to start does not serge forward like this.

When mine is NOT warmed up yet it will roll forward if you let it. The real thing ya want to know is where does the clutch ingage at when you slowly let the clutch lever out. I like mine set so you start to feel the quad wanting to roll when the clutch lever is atleast 1/4 of the way out but not to much more.
Then when you pull the clutch lever all the way back in you should feel the quad relax. If it doesn't then you need to adjust it so that it does. Or you'll put undue wear on thr fibers.

In addition to Eaglecollectors advice which is spot-on, a warped or defective friction plate can cause the clutch to drag. I say defective because I assume that your DS is fairly new and has not been subjected to the kind of abuse that will warp the plates and discs. If its still under warranty, maybe have the shop (Clausens? thats where I bought mine) look at the clutch
Also, your oil if its too thick can cause the same thing untill its good and warm.
By the way its good to see another Cen-Cal forum member. There are a few of us.
