Default VIN ID plate missing

My 2001 DS650 is missing the VIN Plate, The service manual shows it at the front of the bike frame, between the upper a-arms (from what I can tell).
It looks like there was never one there (no rivet holes), anyone else have this missing plate?
is there another place on the frame to look for the VIN ?
I do have two stickers on right bottom frame rails (matches the title) but that won't last very long.

This may cause a problem registaring to a national park near me (Big Cypress)

Derek, that can cause you alot of problems Check the left horizontal frame bar, just in front, of the left foot peg.

Nope, there are not any stamped numbers there.

no sweat derek, take off the snorkel between the airbox and the carb and it's stamped into a plate of the frame, i've never seen one up near the front of the frame, and the vin location on the lower frame rail in front of the left peg is just a sticker and may be gone by now, so remove the snorkel, and it's stamped into a plate gusset looking up, lates, josh......................
