Default 04 axle nut

Have a Q for all you ds guys out there with a stock axle. It seems my axle nut keeps working loose. When i get done after a day of I riding I see that the nut is turned and is about out of the keeper snap ring that is factory, I have made sure I am torcing the nut to the proper torc as per the manual. I do not want to over torc the nut if it will harm my bearings. Anyone else have this problem. And does any one make a after market nut for the stock axle?

Mine stays there fine, the snap ring lock keeps on mine and holds it there, never had a problem with it comming off or the nut getting loose.

It has happen to some of the desert racers. They just tape the snap ring on and clean the threads and loctite it

If something has hit your lock ring, it may be bent out of shape a bit or simply not holding with the force it should. This happened to me as well, except I didn't notice it at first, until during slow turns on hardpack i noticed/felt my *** end slapping side to side. By that time it was too late and the bearings were shot. Overtorquing will ruin your bearings by pulling too much tension...(duh to me) they are cone bearings, which is why you have the axle nut.

To prevent this from happening, first make sure the lock ring fits on the locknut fairly tight. Not being able to remove it by hand is a good sign, and like Bill said, take it off, throw some blue ocktite on there, and torque it back up. This should hold it in place.
Hope this helps.

When the 04's came out I wondered why Bomb changed the setup...don't like the looks...cheap.
