engine paint

motor is out ..seen some painted motors..looked good! what kind of paint (high temp car engine?) do u need to strip the old off is it true there is paint that reduses heat or extracts heat?

I used VHT paint in aerosol cans. It is ment to resist up to 700 degrees celcius, I don't know yet i haven't got my zilla back together. Looks good mine black. One prob it smears like glass but some heat resistant laquer solved that.

I did just some lettering on the jug and cases.
I just used a good name brand enamel paint. the jug and cases don't get hot enough to burn the paint. I just sanded the painted area lightly b4 I repainted them. and a very steady hand is needed. its held up to riding , power washings and such for about 2 years, touch is needed now and then.

I have used the VHT engine enamel for years and it sticks pretty good. Some sanding, a good wash job with brake clean then a rinse with some laquer thiner just prior to painting and you should be good to go...
