Up until you crash, then you make it EVERY atv'rs business. the media gets ahold of your wreck, blows it out of proportion, then the lawmakers here about it, decide atv's are dangerous, and then try to form a bill to outlaw atv's
i know this sounds far fetched, but why do you think lawmakers have formed safety committees for ATV's most of the injuries that occur on atv's do so due to rider not following laws, like HELMET, a second person on the back, too young for a sport atv.......etc
so in a round about way, when you don't wear a helmet, and i see you riding around, i will stop you and tell you to put a helmet on, or call the cops!!! have a nice 500 dollar fine in California!!!!

Well I can talk from experience on this issue from both sides. I was involved in a serious ATV crash when I was 12. I was not wearing a helmet and flipped my 125 causing the bars to crush my skull. I was in a comma for 3 months and spent the next year in a hospital learning how to walk again. As I have grown older I will not put my a$s on a bike without a brain bucket on. On the other side I have worked hundreds of ATV and streetbike crashes and have seen first hand how valuable a helmet is. I would never force my opinions onto anyone else, but can say that I refuse to ride with people who do not where helmets because I want my children to remember that when they are old enough to make their own decisions.
