Default Is my Battery dead?

For those that were helping with my last problem. I let the bike sit for a few hours and then couldn't start it again but it was trying, just the battery was making a fast clicking sound.

It started with a 35amp jump.

But when I put a battery Tender on it, it goes into storage mode which I thought meant that it was fully charged.

I leave a battery maintainer on my ds650 when I'm not using it (they're only like $20). It's a battery charger that trickles voltage to keep your battery charged. You might want to have the magneto checked out too. My battery would go dead after riding for a few hours because my magneto wasn't charging the battery.

the clicking is your starter trying to turn over the motor low voltage / amps out of your battery causes this. charge the battery and then try again . the worst part about the battires are they don't last for crap 3 years max. Also once your battery starts going bad the ds does not get a godd regulated voltage and it will begin to not run right.

I went and found your other post and read it.

Your battery going weak after sitting for a while would indicate one of 2 things.
The battery is dieing (prolly has at least one bad cell)
Or
You have current draw some where. Not likely but possible.

When you take the terminal off the battery very slowly. If it sparks at all you have current draw and that is draining the battery. If not...then the battery is prolly ready for the grave.
I thought you just bought that battery though?

Larry, that bat. I bought was for the 03.

I will put that one on the Pig for tomorrow and will have Dave check everything with his meter. I don't want to kill this one too.

is this a stocker yuasa? if you do go to replace it, and dont know about the odyssey, i reccomend you go with one of those! I went through two stockers before i finally heard about the pc545...and havnt had an ounce of trouble out of it (always cranks, long and hard, and i can let it sit for MONTHS with no trickle charger, and its still ready to rumble)
