Fuel Ratio Meter

Fuel Ratio Meter
Can anyone give me information about air/fuel ratio meters?
First off, I don't have any experience fine tuning a 4stroke.
I'm hoping a meter can give me accurate feedback rather than just relying on reading the plugs.
Would the meter help at all?
Assuming it would, what brand is the best?
Is the meter a gauge that's permanently mounted?
Does it measure the ratio at all throttle ranges (idle, mid, WOT, etc)?
Any info would be helpful including some of your fine tuning secrets.
BTW...I'm running an HPR Lectron 46HV.
Thanks.

Fuel Ratio Meter
It's some sort of device, could be a digital unit, or a series of LED's, but whatever it is, it displays infomation it gets from an )2 sensor mounted in your exhaust pipe.
It reads the air fuel misture of your gasses that pass it, so yes it reads idle, half throttle, WOT, whichever.
I don't have one, I haven't used one, but yes it would help tuning, some use it to monitor the fuel mixture in applications such as when running alcahol or a setup which might be unstable and they need a warning system.
Most setups are a guage thats monunted, or you can have a portable device, whichever.
Usually the readout you get is a number. or with the LED system, a LED lights up to signify a corresponding O2 % range. I believe the desired range is somewhere from 19-21.
Hope this helps, and hopefully I get my butt in gear and do the same thing you are. It would be nice to know.
