Raptor owner afraid of DS650 piloted by 59-year-old man!

If you don't like it, don't read it! If you want an education go to college. Don't expect to find it in the the writings of Leech. He bores me with his inaccurate assessments of the Banshee and Raptor. Reread some of his posts and really comprehend what he is saying. Most of it is conjecture and jingoisms. He revels in the fact that the Banshee hasn't changed over the years and yet ignores the fact that inspite of obvious design flaws in the 2000 DS no apparent efforts were made by Bombardier to correct them in the 2001 model. His bias is blatant and obvious. Reread his posts with a critical eye. Challenge his arguments in your own mind and see if they ring true. Some will. Most will be common to all quads not merely Yamaha and some will be pure drivel. I will spare you the YAMAHA RULES! crap. That was just to incite Leech.

The only thing Yamahamer quads are good for is their motors. Take a look at the Banshee and Raptor. See a trend here? The motors are the best in their class. But the rest of the quad flat out stinks! I almost bought a Raptor until I looked at the airbox and now I am hearing about A-arms and axels bending. What were they thinking. Yamie didn't even improve a known problem area. The Banshee is just about the most unreliable quad on the market. So what did they do with the Raptor? Borrow parts and designs from the 'shee and they know it has problems.
I have owned several YZ dirt bikes in the past. When it was time to switch to 4 wheels I chose Honda. I will never own a Yamaha quad. The reliablity and common sense just isn't there. Which doesn't make any sense since their YZ's are awesome bikes, fast and reliable.
Alright I'm done

Well, I own a Banshee and a Warrior and they not only have great motors but they are built solid. Never bent an axle, never broke down, changed the air filters as most people do when they begin to modify their quads, no matter what brand. I have been riding a Banshee since '93. All of the men that I ride with ride Banshees. We have literally beat the hell out of them and they never have broken down. What are we doing wrong? OUR quads don't break down like all of you non-Banshee riders keep telling us they should. You who have never owned a Banshee make statements like "The Banshee is the about the most unreliable quad on the market." Do you base that on personal experience? Read it somewhere? Did it come to you in a dream? Have friends who have that can attest to it's unreliability? I am not saying that it isn't possibly true, but you fail to take it to the next level and substantiate your claim. You just move on to some other vague critisizism like "I will never own a Yamaha quad. The reliability and common sense just isn't there." Again, not stopping to backup your statement with documented fact. I say, PROVE IT! Give me substantiated facts, statistics, documented data. Name your sources.
Another common complaint is the fact that the Banshee is 13 years old and never changes except for the colors and the graphics. Name me ONE non-Yamaha sport quad that has even been in production as long as the Banshee and more importantly, name one quad that has under gone frequent and significant design changes over it's production lifetime, regardless of the duration. Please, name one! If no one else has, why is it such a negative for the Banshee?
I have one other question and I am serious about this one. If the Banshee is such a bad quad why does everyone insist on measuring the performance of their quads to it? Why is it such a significant event when they out perform one? Why? I can't figure that one out.
Ironically, it seems as though it is the detractors that have enhanced the quads legend status. This coming as a result of their constant comparisons to and attacks on the Banshee. Like it or not, it has become an icon in the quad world.

Well I have been reading these posts and have been keeping quiet so far but I can't anymore. I'm not here to bash quads but leech you are kind of over the top. I have never had a ds beat me or really have it be all that close. Yes I'm modified but you have twice the displacement. As far as saying yamaha's are inferior is just a joke. Sure some quads are better for this or that but what is it that the ds is better at?
For others to say that banshee's are unreliable seems funny to me I have a friend that has one 1987 still on stock top end. I agree that yamaha could use some better things done to this and that on their machines but I could say that about each and every quad out there. If the banshee was the most unreliable quad of all time then how could they have gotten away with not changing it in 9yrs.
Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to talk you into getting banshee's because then I would have less people to beat up the hills.

Comon jmp, it sounded nice until you said "it's double the displacement". Give me a break, everyone that knows half of anything about atv's know's that the banshee is a 2 stoke twin cylinder, and the Ds is a single cylinder 4stoke. It "should take" double the CC for a fourstoke to keep up with a 2 stoke, so the ds beating the banshee should be a 700cc (350x2) ds700 to beat the banshee, so i would have to say that the ds does a great job of beating those banshees...comone here

Mr. Bill Have you taken a good look at the products the bombardier second rate co. produce. If they can manage to build lear jets, trains, planes and other products that need to meet high standards, I think they can manage to build a quad.I know yamaha covers a wide range of products aswell and most are very respectable but for you to say bombardier is a second rate company shows your intelligence.

Chill, man!
I didn't intend for you to respond to all that crap that I was feeding Leech. He's a moronic redneck blowhard and I just wanted to bait him. Based on the tenor of his last post, I suspect that he probably bruised his finger tips while pounding out those childish variations of my forum ID on his keyboard. Mission accomplished.
What I wanted was for you or anyone else for that matter, to respond intellegently (no name calling, no unsubstantiated accusations) to the post that I made on 9/29 @ 9:11 pm. It is way down at the bottom of the thread. So far I haven't had any takers and I want some answers.
