Default Whos Had Back Surgery?

440ex,

the actual leg is short, this throws off the hip and pelvis, causes many back problems, mainly disc and sciatic issues due to the imbalance....

the doctor you speak of about the leg straightening is not talking about this, he is using that as a tool to check the adjustment (very, very old school and not good)

i am sure that 98% of the people on this post have never looked into this, that is why i am urging them to!

if i can help let me know..

Actually you may be able to help, do you know anyone in my area that isnt afraid to actually pay attention to what their doing and give a damn if there normal manipulations are not working

Seriously I enjoyed your comment on old school since except for a few newer chiros (most I know personally, but not in my area) most of the ones that I have had success with were old school, and all are either retired or moved out of state now.

Seemed weird to me at first and I even seen a few who had atteneded the same school and learned similar ways etc and I had to track them down (this isnt easy you know lol) as most all the chiros around here only want to do adjustments one way, the easy or their most comfortable way and not try anything else.

Anyhow I understand what your saying about the leg length, but have never seen anyone who has done this or even explained it. I can also see your point on why it could be bad to be adjusting the pelvis or ? to match up legs that are not of the same length. I actually only had two that were doing this that I could tell, and the very first "old school" guy I started my experience with chiro etc was the only one I can rembember that even discussed and produced the xray to show how my pelvis was actually unbalanced so much it was making it as if my one leg was shorter. I cant tell you if there is any difference in length, but I do know it was originally so bad (the tilting of the pelvis to the left) that this guy grabbed one of his old books to show me how my xray matched the example used in the book he learned from in school. Talk about a text book case

Too bad that this guy ended up getting ill and retiring early because he was one of the few who actually understood and was willing to explain how all the different aspects of my problem and body were working together and all the various ways of making things better etc., and wasnt just looking to "crack and bill".

I was told by a doctor that about 75% of people have one leg shorter than the other. I know for a fact I do but it was caused by a motorcycle accident when I was in school. I have been using a special insert in my left shoe ever since.

440,

let me know what city you are in and any that are close to you ( 15min) and i will do some research and get back to you.

hopefully this will help..

texas,

you are correct with the % of short legs, it is close to that... they go unnoticed all the time and can account for a lot of unexplained back pain.. do you have a heel lift or a complete foot lift?

I have a complete shoe insert that an orthapedic specialist had made to fit me. I came close to loseing my left leg in the accident and ended up with a few screws in my leg and foot. When I first got the insert I would use it a few weeks then go without it for a day or so. Man when I didn't use it I could tell the difference. Pain would shot up my leg and into my hip and make walking almost impossible for a day or two. Now I have three inserts. One for my dress shoes, one for my walking shoes and one for my work shoes. I wear them everyday now.

Chris just put together what you have and what you know about them etc, and either pm or email the info and I will let you know what I find when I get to talk with them etc.

I really appreciate your offer and efforts and if you like I dont have to mention your referral (or I can which ever you prefer) but I cant promise which one I would end up trying or if I might tell anyone of them what I really think or feel etc.

Didnt mean that as a warning but I find it goes better with Dr's that are first interested in their patients, and then focused on their portfolios if you know what I mean.
