how do grease the rear axle bearing?
You have to remove the entire axle. I see you have an 05 model so you have a long time to wory abought it. I have an 01 and put several hard hard years on it before I noticed the axle getting warm after riding so I replaced the bearings and grease at that point. The grease is packed between the bearings and is tecnicly greased for the life of the bearings. Some people dismantle the axle to grease and inspect the bearings on a regular bassis but I figure it isent worth the efort till I see a reason to do so and that has only happend once in 4 years of severe abuse and routine watter crossings.

I would agree that an 05 should not have to worry but what could have sparked his interest is all the talk about the recall of the 01's thru 04's that has been mentioned on several threads this last week. If you do a search on the net under "Bombardier Axle bearings" you will find page after page of recall information but none is talking about the 05 model year.
Nevertheless I will be doing mine this weekend and will continue to do it each year....Preventative maintenance is better then waiting for something to go wrong...

You are right ! I stand corrected.
Model year 2004 and 2005 Bombardier DS650 ATVs under model numbers 0003A5A00, 0003A5B00, 0003B5A00, 0003B5B00, 000799700, 000799500, 000771900, and 000771700 are part of this recall. The ATV model number identification decal is located on the right side of the frame, in front of the engine.
Sorry for the miss information.....
