Default Looking for a Rev Limiter

Eric Oldham aka. Mr. Horsepower emailed me stating the 650 rev's high enough ( 6200-6500 rpm's ) stock , and i should be shifting sooner if the rpm's are bumping the limiter. I am not a seasoned rider but i feel like there is still some power left on the table. He did go on to recommend the Vortex cdi ( too much cha ching ) . I guess i'll try a used or new $100-$130 unit and see for myself.
i wonder why he did not recommend MSD but i have a vortex and i like. i was going to get an MSD but Vortex and MSD are almost the same

I have the Procomm and haven't experienced the problems some forum members have reported. It was recommended by another DS rider I talked with in the trails last summer here in MI. To read about $1300.00 in damage has me considering reinstalling the OEM CDI. After I installed the HMF slip-on, re-configure carb and installed the K&N, I was bumping the rev limiter in no time. The extra 500 RPM has me rarely hitting it now. This should be simple EE, right?
