Default problem with new headlight install

ohh my god this page is just the greatest page i've ever found! thanks a lot man!

but i have 1 last question: when you are in front of the bike, with fenders off, does the lower bracket that mounts to the oil tank goes like 'between you and the bracket' or does it goes ' between the bracket and the bike'?

i think this is the origin of my problem

The lower bracket goes BEHINd the mounting bracket that is welded to the oil tank. Does that make sence? You will haveto put the bottom in first, then you can put the top bolts in. The bottom will be "trapped" between the oil tank and the bracket.
Hope that helps.
Just reread your post. I see what you are saying, I had the same problem. Of you put the lower bracket on the "outside" (between you and the bracket) the bottom of the light is out too far, and doesn't fit the plastics or the trim piece.
