ds650 sand tires
#21
I run straight paddles on all the quads i ride except on the banshee. i run sand skates on them, not the skateII's, but the first. they hook up alright, the II's hook up better. as for the turning abilities of the V-shaped...big ol difference between staight and V. the V-shaped will turn on a dime compared to the straights. they still hook up pretty good too.

Well I got my 20x10x10 9 paddle Skat-Trak Haulers last Friday. They came on the new aftermarket Douglas 0.160 10x9 rims from Rocky Mountain ATV. I tried them out along some sandy shorelines. They definitely transfer more HP to the ground, improve acceleration, and seem to "float" pretty good! It still does take a second to get the beast moving from a dead stop though. Also, since some of the shoreline has some whoops, I felt that with more hookup I had slightly improved handling because I could ALMOST get the front end off the ground to avoid plowing into the next whoop and bucking the rearend. I've said it before, I need more low end to solve this problem once and for all. My Ron Woods Stage One kit should be here soon. Then I'll test the tires again and go to Little Sahara.
FYI: I had no clearance issues with the rear fenders and the paddles. I think the dune tires were a tiny bit shorter than stock, but didn't seem to have a noticeable affect on gearing.
