Default Depressor or Compressor?

I'm looking at getting a Valve spring compressor/Depressor.

I've seen the C-clamp style Compressor and the turn **** depressor types. Which is the the two types is most recommended?

Default Depressor or Compressor?

I have always used the compressor c-clamp style and like using it. I made one out of a 6" c clamp. I have used a different type on a 302 small block once but filled the cylinder with rope and compressed the valve with the head still on the engine. I had a broken spring to replace.
