With swapping out the carb you will need a new throttle cable as well. I asked this question once before and never got an answer so I'll high jack this thread and ask it once again....When changing out the carb to a TM45 or Lectron I was told that you need to do modifications to the seat pan to allow for the top of the carb to fit properly under the seat. Is this correct? and what does it entail?

Scoundrel,

Yes you need a cable with a TM45 - They are inexpensive. A cable alone does not really work with the Lectron because the carb needs more cable pull than the TM45.

Seat pan mod only if your seat collapes down off the front mount. Takes about 3 minutes - cut a small square hole where the TM45 cable wheel is. Piece of cake ...

NO need to cut the seat pan with the lectron. You will need a new cable & billet thumb throttle with the lectron. I have a 44mm, 46HV & 48HV lectron carbs. I love the lectron carbs, I just need a set of duals now.

you dont need to buy a cable for the tm. get the little brass thing out of the stk carb and that will fit right in the tm.

I've been riding motorcycles most of my life and the first time I jumped on the DS I felt as if I have two left feet.....lol

10-4 on dual carbs. I've had fairly good luck with my A1-A2's but have not tried any others....yet. I will admit that at first I didn't like the Lectron only because of the sticking and the long throw but since then I re-routed the cable and got use to the long throw.....everything is fine....it's a very simple carb. I'll be putting Lectrons on my Banshee.

The stock cable will work for a TM. Buy an alcohol kit from wood racing and put it on alcohol. It will scream and is very easy to use. If you dont want to run alcohol get the Lectron. They seem to hold tune. What I mean by that is once its right theres no rejetting with temp changes and altittude doesnt seem to effect mine like the TM. Just my experience with the two carbs. I like the performance of the Lectron but the price is painful. I would do a carb and loose the airbox before the cams. I think it will make a bigger difference
