Default Narrowing the DS

I made a tool for holding them in a Lathe and turned mine myself per Hightowers recommendations.

You said "tool"

I pm'd you wildcard.
I remember when I first bought my DS. It was brand spanking new. BAJA edition. They don't come with the nerf bars. With those footpegs and it was a little wet, I went off a little jump and my foot slipped off and went down, then the peg hit the back of my calf, then the tire tried to eat my foot. I was lucky enough to get my foot out and back on the wet peg. Not before hurting myself pretty good. The next day I ordered the factory nerfs and I LOVE THEM!! They have saved my ***** so many times.
What I am trying to accomplish is to narrow down 1" all the way around. With these new Elkas, it has made the front even wider. I am at 50" in front and 50-1/2"
Our rules state my machine can be no wider than 50 inches.

Yes I said tool. I spun my hubs down and removed 2 lbs of rotating mass.

Okay, I bought a "set" and it only consists of the rear hubs.
The fronts cannot be machined??
I would think the side that the brake disk attaches to could be machined 1/2" and the part where the lugs are could also be machined a little. No?
If anyone has any info to this let me know, please. I am going to take mine and experiment I guess.
I need to narrow the front as well as the rear. The hubs I received will be perfect for the rear, no doubt. Without the front being equally narrowed, I won't use them.

Had my fronts lightened, I don't think they are any narrower though.

The front end is 48 compared to 50 for stock DS.
No one makes a narrower front end. Even when TBR made a MX front end it was 48.
You could buy narrower front rims and gain alittle. Around 1/2 Inch per side.
If you set the front suspension to a sag of 2 1/2 inches, your front will be 46 inches.
To set sag, raise front end till suspension is highest and take a measurement.
Sit on quad, do a few bounces and have someone take a measurement at sameplace as rise.
The difference between these readings should be 2 1/2 inches. If bigger, screw shock ring to make firmer. Start over with readings till you get 2 1/2 inches.

With the Elkas I have and the tires, I am at 50" up front and 50-1/2" in the rear.
I have the hubs off and it looks as if I can shave off a total of 1/2" from each front hub. However, it will take quite some machining so the bearing can go back in and the brake disk can be mounted.
I will loose an inch over all in the front. I'll take every little bit I can!
The rears, yes, I can flip them over and machine them to fit and loose 2 inches. But what would that matter if I was wider in the front?
With the Elkas, I also can't hammer on the throttle like I used to and the front end would jump up and the tires would drop making it more narrow. The Elkas don't let it drop like that. So when I hammer to get through a tight spot it stays wide and suddenly I am looking at my headlight.

I'm scared! I went to the machine shop and to a welding shop today. The way it looks, to get the front more narrow, The lug bolts are turned over. The part the the wheel will now rest needs to be machined down to about 1/4" . Then we are going to machine the other side where the wheel meets the hub and make a ring to fit around all four tabsd. Then that will be welded on foe strength.
I am a guinea pig.
