I realize that many things affect this but generally speaking with a stock engine such as mine with the mods in my signature it has has no turbo and it is not a big bore it has new je piston and rings and valves and I was just curious how many hours an average person under average conditions can look forward to getting out of a ds650 motor before thinking about a rebuild? thanks in advance fellas you guys rock

I have a 2001 that belonged to my son that has close to 2000 hours.
It does not burn oil and has just alittle blowby. I use a synthetic oil and they blowby easier than regular oil. I run an extended crankcase hose to the rear of the quad and ends just a few inches above the rear chain. The little blowby I have helps lube the chain and not the airbox. Maximum time on oil is 50 hours - loss to blowby is maybe 1 cup

The BMW F650 has riders that exceed 80,000 miles. They run 11 to one compression.

That kind of a question is an oxymoron isn't it? Average people don't ride a DS they ride a Raptor or YFZ or some other Jap bike..... [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

longevity is why Bomb put the motor on the DS, they feel a guy otta be able to ride the quad for years just like a car or motorcycle. the newer higher reving bikes can make the high hp of the big bore DS, but they gotta rev to do it, where the lower rpm of the big bore and long stroke DS can provide the power at much lower rpm and do it for life. she's a cruiser for sure.
