Everyone bring a little firewood and we should be able to share a fire.
If anyone has the FRS radios that would be the best way to reach eachother when you arrive and are looking for us.

Seems like I've seen guys break them before, are they usually too small and that's why they break?

I talked to randall yesterday and he confirmed it to me as well, NOT GOING. That sucks. I would of liked to see those guys run. O'well, guess I will have to be the king of the hill this year

I think it is safe to say that everyone would like to see them come - but no one can really blame them since it is such a long distance. Perhaps they'll up and change their mind, but it isn't likely considering a trip that far would take A LOT of planning.
Those FRS radios are a good idea, but I've never had much luck with using them at any sort of range.
DuneMe,
Are you coming out with your usual group, or is the rest of the gang not making this particular trip? Your mention of a group fire seems out of place for your gang.
As for tow strap, get the BIG one. Most guys I see pulling out at Pismo have straps made for securing loads on Commercial trucks, much more than you need for towing a pickup, but not a bad idea if you plan to help an RV through the sand!

Yes, is true. . . some of my group isn't as social and open to meeting new people (Blackhawk put it pretty softly.) They aren't jerks about it and I do understand a little as the first 4SW's I had a run-in with some guys that decided to do brodies in camp while my buddies were BBQ'n their dinner. Sometimes it is a little easier to just be in your own group next to the main group.
Not sure who will be coming out of my normal group. I'll be there but, seems there is a rash of relationship issues with some of them. . . maybe even leading to divorce (Keep that on the down-low ) - No worries, they don't read the forums but, no need to bring up anything when out there.
So, weather its just me or the group I figure they'll just have to put up with it a little this time. Who knows.
Anyways, where's the best place to get a strap without spending too much money?

Well I am definatlely going. Sand45 and I along with two of his friends (total of 3 nitrous quads) are all going and staying in the Comfort Inn in Fallon. We plan on arriving on the evening of Thursday September 1st. I'll be brining some stuff (wish I could elaborate).
GMRS - How about everyone try and use channel 2? I realize not everyone will be listening, but if a few have thier radios on we can at least try and meet up.
Tow strap - Just get the most expensive one you can get. The good ones dont go bad or break.
