What mod next?, piston/cams or head porting? Also question on possible blow-by

I did the shim under kit with my HR3 cams. If I were you I'd talk directly with Randall about which cams best suit your riding style and the bikes modifications you have as well as what you are planning to do in the future. That is the best way to narrow down the selection.

ouch a full day with supervision of someone who knows what they are doing?!?! lol I am pretty clueless but have pretty good common sense, and a tiny bit of experience inside engines from highschool engine classes.
What is the most time consuming part?
What tools are required? besides the obvious hand tools/sockets, the only thing I can think of is the band that goes around the rings so you can put it in the head (forgot the actual name).

Modification/grinding the back lug of the head and the frame cross member so you can remove the head without pulling the entire motor out of the frame.
You will need ball end Hex wrenches and if you are going to upgrade the valve springs you will need a valve spring compressor.
The other things that took time were the C-clip installation in the piston and the shim under spring kit. If you replace the piston you will have to set the ring end gaps as well and you will need a piston ring compressor. There is allot more to it then you might think....It's no slam dunk!

Hmmm *wonders what local shops charge to do it* lol... If I can get a local place to do it all for under 200 I might go that route... I have connections with the local yammy shop (no way in hell im taking my ds to any of the local bomb shops...they do NOT know what they are doing! which really bites..because yammy guys have to learn from scratch while working on my quad).
Everything seems pretty straight forward, but not having anyone there that has past experience would be a problem, as I would be afraid I would doing somthing slightly off, such as setting the end gap or somthing.
Edit**
"only that he drank my beer" lmao... LOL ok I feel a little bit better, but not much!

Actually its not all that hard to do any of the work yourself. I've always done my own work because this way I know how well its done and it gives you allot of experience for other repairs. I did have to call Randall twice, once about the ring end gap and the other about the spring sequence. I suggested he throw in a exploded view diagram in his future shipments to cut down on the phone calls.
There are allot of guys here like myself who have gone through it and if you run into problems you can get advise here.
PS: You will need the TDC bolt in addition to the other tools I suggested.

Isnt there a bolt on the engine you can pull out and use as a TDC bolt? or was that just used to lock the engine in place?
At this exact moment in time I have a VERY strong itch to do a 750 gsxr conversion...we will see if this lasts. 100 hp+ and probably less issues with the motor sounds pretty good to me!

Roost, if you prefer not to grind the head lug and crossmemeber, Theres enough room to remove the head if you take out all of motor mount bolts except the lower back one. just loosen it a bit and loosen or remove the chain. The motor will tilt forward enough to remove the head. Just did mine that way, worked great.
