Gearing?

And the results are in from this last weekend. Just to recap, here is what we were running.
15/42 with 22" sand stars and a 220lb rider
14/40 with 20" sand stars and a 290lb rider
14/40 with 20" sand skate 2 and a 320lb rider
And then of course we did a lot of swithing of bikes and I believe we found what we each perferred. But here is the run down. Weight was a huge factor. Off the line the 14/40 with the stars blew everyone away. The sand skates just don't hook up the same way. However with the 15/42 combination (and 70lbs difference main factor) would finally pull me up the hill. I am loving the Sand Stars for a good hook up off the line and outstanding turning ability on the trails on the dunes. Overall, the biggest difference was the tires and the weight. These bikes are all stock other then the above sproket and tire changes. We had a lot of fun with running these and wow what a difference it made.
Point of intrest would be to be very careful putting that front washer and nut back on. If you don't line that washer up right it don't get tight enough and you end up losing you drive nut somewhere in the dunes. Good luck finding a replacement there also....So if anyone that rides in the florance area comes across a drive nut for the 650, please let me know as it was mine
Overall winner this weekend was weight. Time for that diet to start (and more mods in case that don't work). Up next on my bike, is the RWR CDI, TM45 carb, and a K&N filter. After that who knows....
Let em know if this helps anyone...
I have since upgraded to the 22" Sand Stars, and now I am neck and neck. The extra ponies in my pipe helped. Way prefer the 22s
