I dont like the whole "ford vs chevy" type of deal. I personally think both manufacturers have some decent models, so just because I prefer more from one dosnt mean I am going to be all for that. I love my bomb, but I still have respect for every other maker. Wait...no, I have respect for every other maker EXCEPT polaris! I honestly do not see what draws people to those machines! First off, they are the heaviest machines out there...their 330 weighs nearly the same as a grizzly 660 for example. Everything is made of heavy *** steel, or some crappy composite plastic (brake lever for example...what gives with that) and another thing about the brakes...who in the HELL wants front and rear brakes tied to ONE lever? that makes no sense. That, combined with how many polaris owners I know with problems, it just makes me cringe when I think about their models.

Yup!! Someone told on me!!!! Man they were po'd at me, even after I explained what was really going on. Then I asked them to un-lock it so I could see the responses, but he had deleted it. Man, I thought it would be a bunch of people in here like me with a good sense of humor. I guess not.

Bombsaint- !! Too Funny !!
Sparky, play nice.
I see Polaris is using Fox shocks on the Outlaw. I was looking at them and found the people I was in contact with were not from this planet and went with the Elka's. I will never look back now.
Went riding last night for about 5 hrs. Got home around 2am. A little Chinese eyed and beer breath. A little wake and bake and Steve Winwwod on the TV. Life is good.
Took my DS on this whooped out trail. It's about 1/2 mile this section I'm talking about. I wore that section out. After adjusting the rear shock a little, I was WFO the whole way and it was almost effortless. Just kept it pegged, stood up a little and sat back.
Something else, I had to go through so much water. As I was trudging through (Razr2's suck in the mud) My red light came on. I could feel it was running hot. So I had to stop and splash water directly on the radiator untill the light went out. This happend 3 times and it pisses me off. That fan works it's butt off and it isn't enough. I hate the hot nature of the DS.

Mudnuri,

I know what you are saying about the Elka's. My experience the Works Performance was that it was the best shocks for handling the whoops on the DS. Full throttle pegged and hit 2 foot whoops and don’t even put your **** all the way to the rear, just hold on. But the works killed your forearms under 20mph. It was like riding with no tires. Now the Elka's take care of the problem with low speed impacts, but they aren’t nearly as good in the whoops as the Works. They are OK, (maybe I still need to adjust mine some more) but you have to put your **** all the way back and keep the front end off the sand as much as possible, and then you can open her up. But it was never that way with the Works.

As far as the Fox Shox, I'm still doing research on those. I like the idea that they are a totally different concept. The Elka's are more of a compromise shock. Trying to get soft in the chop, but still be capable of jumping. Like most compromise items, they don’t do either one really well. What would be cool is to have a stock valved cylinder with an easy way to change out the spring to a multistage one. Now that would be the best of both worlds.

Personally, the duners simply need a shock that wont kill your forearms under 20mph and can take the whoops and still keep the re-bound in check as speeds up to 40mph. Ok and it would be nice to handle 10foot jumps too. But I don’t need something that needs to take 30 footers.

What do you mean? I am playing nice. And by the way, I have absoloutly nothing against Polris or those who ride them. In fact I was thinking about getting a trailblazer or old cyclone for my wife. She has never ridden and I want to get her something that's easy to drive. She's too scared of them. Maybe it's cause the only time she did ever ride one, I put her on my quadracer. She lasted under 5 minutes and didn't want any part of it.

What do I mean? Well this site has the right to make some money. If any ATV company wants to step up(and bring some dough) I say welcome. Going to another part of the site and sabotage the link for your amusement is not cool.
I had no intention of elaborating this much, but you asked. Maybe I should have pasted one of those little smiley thingies after "play nice."

Ha Ha!!! I didn't do that!!!!! You fell for the prank too I see. All I did was insert a link into my post, and I titled it "tough" so that after I said that I changed it they would just click on that link to check and it would appear I really had. Some people must have gotten mighty upset.
