Default Traxter Spark Plugs

I just got a used 2004 Traxter with only 37 miles on it. While pulling the plugs after I flooded it, I noticed the there are two different plugs - NGK DR8EA and D8EA. The owners manual only mentions the DR8EA. I doubt that the previos owner would have changed one of the plugs after only 37 miles. Can I use only the DR8EA or do I need both? Also, is there a hotter plug that anyone can recommend? This Traxter isn't the easiest thing to start when cold.

I run the same type in both on mine. Not sure which ones I have in there but I know they are the same as what is on a 400ex.

Well, it looks like there is two of us Traxter owners who would like to have our ATV's start easier....If you haven't looked at my listing also placed on Oct. 26th, I refer to a Service Bulletin that Bombardier has produced that may help....I've ordered the plug (don't know if it's "hotter" but should be better for fouling) and larger jet they mention and will be giving it a try. I already had installed a larger battery which I have noticed seems to crank better; however, not improving starting capability. I also use the 5W Bomb oil as recommended without noticeable improvement.

I'll keep you posted on any results....plus it's supposed to warm-up to near 60 this weekend which should help.

I've ordered a set of Iridium spark plugs. My only condern was that are two different plugs in it right now. I can't find an Iridium spark plug to match the D8EA so I'm going to use two Iridium replacements for the DR8EA. I'll let you know if they make any difference.

Got the Traxter to start right up this weekend....60 degree weather, heater on the block/head, a little starting fluid is what it took. It sure seems to enjoy 60 degrees much more than 40. I still plan an pursuing the larger starting jet and iridium plugs to see if I can get this thing to start easy all the time.

Keep in touch.
