300 foot in 3.8 sec?
That is a clever joke. Sorry to hear it didn't go well but you are right. These builders make peanuts and if they try to make a margin that makes a decent living, they get reamed for their pricing being too high.
Home building isn't good right now but i will still take it over engine building.

Sorry to hear that. . . Gary's a good guy and sure seemed to enjoy the sport. Hopefully this doesn't sour the sport for him.
I've heard of a few dealers shutting their doors down this way as well.
If you are an aftermarket / modification shop you put time and effort and money into finding that extra HP goodie you then have to deal with the fact that someone else is going to take your design and copy it. Or guys selling cheap goods out of their garage. No overhead. It's no ones fault, that's just business. It isn't easy.
Guys get into the shops because they love the sport. . . start a business because they love it. . . end up working all the weekends for the shop so they can't go do what they love. . . the sport.

oh i don't think there is a need to be sorry for gary, its a case of max income for retirement he could of kept going but when you have to sell ten plus quads a month to meet rent and insurance, that just a lot in a slow ecomony, i think he is pretty smart, cut loose the dead weight.

that is right he still has a very active business, polaris and can-am think these guys should keep flooring there product and paying them even if there not selling, as many know gary won't put up with that for those of you who don't know gary is a stihl dealer, and those chain saw ,blowers, weed eaters do move, plus it provides a couple other guys full time jobs. now he can do more of what he wants, that is good he was tied down to the other store to much. and as far as ds parts he can still help with parts, he might even still help guys with engine problems.

Shucks. 3.7 seconds unbacked 300 ft with ice engine sounds like one race at a time and constant rebuilds. No one here claims that feat. Is that feller dead or otherwise gone?
Does anyone here support reliable engine designs which are good for customers who can afford it? Shoot, I ain't made of money, but like my Rotax. Some of you fellers seem motor smart.
