Default Outlander 400 enough power vs Prairie 700

I can get the Outlander for $4600. I realize the 700 has a lot more power... I'm wondering if a clutch kit in the Outlander will allow it to keep up from 0 to 30 MPH (most of the riding I do is in trails... not open roads) ? I want the power... but I ride 100+ miles at a time and I'm thinking that the Outlander's IRS is going to provide a much better ride. Am I wrong about the ride difference?

I am bothered by too much of this ""power"" bs, 'tim the tool man taylor' style, let me say; I ran into a surgion and a lawyer at a recent college reunion. I will spare you the details, but do the math - atvs are part of both of their businesses!

Moreover, the more people that get hurt, the more the government will come in and regulate the whole sport.

Oh, and, one other gal told of a guy was out on their farm driving their grizzly back to the barn and almost died after hitting a fence (excessive speed)...

no one thinks it will happen to them....

happy trails!

SKT,
If the ride is that important to you then you should get the 400 over the Prairie I've heard people complain of soreness from long rides on Prairies, but I really don't think you can expect to keep up with a Prairie ecspecially from 0-30mph no matter what you do with the Outty 400, the V-twin's have very hard hitting low end power they are out of the gate quicker than the $7299 King Quad, and being a Bombardier the 400 is already tuned higher to have more horsepower so there's not much more power hiding in the engine. Just make sure that if you get the 400 you test drive it first to see if it's enough power for what you want to do with it, Yeah the price seems really good right now but if you get it and you realize it's not enough power than you might have wished you splurged and got maybe a BF 650 with IRS...I'm just saying this from my own experiences when I bought a Sportsman 400 (which isn't nearly as powerful as the Outty 400) I wanted more power by the end of the first week, but that's just how I felt.
