Default just got bike dyno'ed after mods

i used all hpr products, used a fsr 14.1 piston, used head ported with 40/34 valves, new hpr3 trail/race cams, a vortex cdi, already had 46hv, race ported intake, and mrhp endcap. i was impressed with the outcome. i dynoed the bike before the last mods it had 46hv, race intake, endcap and it made 43 peak hp. then when dyno after mods on the same dyno, same tires, same gearing it made a 17 peak hp gain. to make it 60.3 hp. i believe there is some hp to be made with maybe some hpr4 cams and maybe a 48hv. it held the torque at 47-49 ft-lbs for about 1500 rpms and held the hp 58-60 in another 1500 rpms range. i posted the dyno chart on the photo page.

Whoa, I thought that was a real low reading dyno? Man, with a drag pipe and HR4 cams, you would have made close to 70hp! Not bad with trail porting and trail cams on a single carb. What gearing?
Those gains are impressive, but the stock graph looks like it was missing some power in tuning. Peak hp should have been at 6300, but it took a dip.
Good job

GREAT!!! the last time i ran on that dyno i just had them do a 3 run for like $50bucks. i ended up with my needle off one clip and my main off one, they did not change it to rerun because i was going to do it at home and with it being off it was at 56hp. same tires gearing 15/40 ect ect... they said i would pick up atleast 2-3 more with correct jetting.
that was with all ron woods off the shelf stuff and my porting. ALL the work was done by myself.

just about the same setup that I have and that's where I figured I'd be if I would have richened the needle up a 1/2 to full turn. I'll be back at the dyno here in the next two weeks, and I know that I'll be happy!

Nice numbers..... can't wait until we get to ride with you flat landers.

Very nice PEAK HP gain!!!

One thing to note though is the HUGE LOSS (25%) IN TORQUE/HP from peak RPM to 9000RPM.

The bike would put lengths on itself if it were setup to hold upper RPM power. It would be a night and day difference if it reved freely to 9000+RPM. In other words if you made changes to emphasize upper RPMS (more, carb, exhaust, cam, etc), maybe you'd lose 10% in the low RPM but gain 25% in the upper RPM.

See example of MRHP's high reving DS twin lectron here: http://forums.atvconnection.com/i/Ga...1/DSC00781.JPG

See example of modified YFZ power curve: http://www.gtthunder.com/YfzDyno8.html

Stock exhaust!!! Not a high rpm full pipe system.

I think it is up to the particular person to get the amount of power he wants and where he wants it. Not everybody wants a high strung drag racer and some budgets have limits.
