The best battery charger I ever had for small motorcycle batteries was the 6 amp Power Tender Plus
It can charge a DS battery that has gotten too low and it can maintain the battery during long periods of storage. The charging profile is designed for these types of batteries, unlike an automotive charger. I've used an automotive charger in the past but this power tender worked better.
Too bad my garage got broken into last year and it was stolen
And the 545 Odyssey battery is a much better battery than the OEM one.

Hey Chris. Yes I leave my battery hooked up on my Quad. After I ride I put the charger on and leave it that way until I ride again. The X charger maintains it automaticly. You will find that the ends on the battery charger are a pain in the *** to get on the battery while on the bike. (The clips keep popping off ) I trimed some of the plastic on the charger ends and bent the prongs out a little so they grab the bolts on the battery beter. You will see what I mean when you get your charger.
Once you have the charger and your sure that the battery it charged up all the way put it in the Quad. To check your rectifier start the bike with the volt meter attached. Rev it up to about 3000 rpm you should see the volt meter rise but it should not exceed 15 volts. If the reading stays the same when you rev the engine the Rectifier is bad and needs replacing. Hope this helps, D

I have been using a shumacher tender for the last five years on my Harley battery, i have run into very few people with an 01 still using there original battery, mine is stll going strong I have one hooked up to the DS right now. I think I paid 29 bones for it. Well worth the money.
