Yeah i've been doing some research for the little time i've had it and i've looked at Big Gun exhausts and it seems from all the people i've been reading about that have them have been repacking them quite often. I'm not looking for much in power upgrades. Kinda want to get it looking better. Stock doesn't look bad, but I know it could look a lot better. I like the Alba race pipe and it comes with a kit for about $299 which comes with the K&N filter, outerwears, jets and needles. I think that is a pretty good deal considering Hindle and Big Gun are pricey. I'm not sure which CDI I should upgrade to though. Been hearing good things about Vortech but they seem pretty expensive.
Read what FatHolly had to say about alba, now as far as your weight goes if I'm right I think its lose 10 lbs = 1 horsepower or is it 3lbs = 1 horse power..

If I could do it all over I would get the HMF pipe $220 powder coat black, HPR Full race proting $158, $15 asorted jets, K&N $50... hey wait. Thats exactly what I have... and yes I would do the exact package again. This will be a really nice performace gain for only a little more than the Alba package, and much better performance than Alba's pipe. Check out hpresearch.net. They are the DS guru's.

Oh yea... once you start this silly game you will not ever want to stop. You're gonna want the 730... we all do... MMMMMMMMMM 730...yes one day you will be mine.

Also, I would recommend the HMF sport pipe, with the K&N filter. That really woke the pig up and got her running good. As for the CDI, I will get my vortex today and let everyone know what I thought of it come Tuesday after riding this weekend. Parts Direct has some outstanding prices for everything, also On Dunes Performance should be back up and running soon and they are good guys that know what they are talking about also.

Hey FatManQuad! I bought my DS from Alba, and I'd have to agree with everything that FatHolly said. They got some nice looking stuff there, but if you want real performance stuff, your money would be spent better elsewhere.

I do concure,
I also purchased my DS at Alba. I don't reccomend there exhaust system you could do better with fewer dollars spent. Alba does have nice dunes though....O and the bikes are nice to.
Dress up parts go to Alba for that ... the Carbon stuff looks great on the DS... wish I had more of it.
Alas it does not really make you go faster !
Welcome you have lots of reading and catching up to do....
For starters I would get your suspension dialed in per the manual ... this helped my ride quality ALOT ! and it was FREE !

-Later ...

Well so much for the good stuff I had heard about alba parts.....Like I said, the best part of everyone's know how on here is it has come the hard way for them. They learned through lots of $$$, and I for one am very thankful for everyones free advise. Thanks to all. Everyone here rocks.

Welcome aboard bro. Yes you will love this forum. A cheap and really good pipe is the hmf, you will find only good things about that pipe. Look through the whats in your garage post for performance parts because alot of guys on here have that stuff layin around and you will save some cash. I know, I have bought a few things for my ds from guys on here. I recommend a hmf, k+n/uni filter,15 tooth front sprocket, and a aftermarket carb tm or lectron with a ported intake. These alone will really pick up the performance unless you want serious hp. Well enjoy the pig. By the way you live in the same state as hightower, that would be great for you if you are not too far away from him because he is a good carb tuner from what I hear. Hey DragonDJ11,
Don't get me wrong
Alba does have good parts just for there regular Bread and Butter clients the Yamaha, honda, Suzuki crowd. They don't specialize in DS parts... IMHO
I mean they are out to make a buck at your expence of knowledge... right ?
I have talked to some of the parts guys over there a bit and they just don't see many DS's. Most guys can't handel them I guess.
But they do sell good quality items... I have spent many dollars with them.... just not on true performance parts for the DS...
