My guess would be that the light came on due to oil pressure not temp. Milky oil usually means water in the oil. Any chance you got a little water in you oil tank? Otherwise do a compression check to see if your head gasket is leaking. Thats another place water could get into your oil system. Good luck!

Water can also get into your crankcase system from the water pump. Normally this shouldn't happen because when water leaks from the water pump seal it is supposed to drip out the weep hole below the pump. There are two seals in the clutch cover, one keeps engine oil in the engine and the other keeps the water in the coolant system. The two seals are installed back to back and there is supposed to be a small amount of space left between the two. If, as on my machine, the two seals are installed tightly together, if the water pump side seal wears and leaks the leakage (coolant) ends up passing through the oil seal and into the engine rather than dripping out the weep hole. Before you pull your head I'd check your water pump shaft seals. When I opened my bike up because of the milky substance showing up in my oil I found that I could see where the coolant had passed through the seals and left tracks. When I tried to blow air back through the weep hole it was as though the hole was plugged when in fact it was the issue with the two seals forming a tight seal between them. Anyway thats my 2 cents.
