East Coast DS Days - Silver Lake Sand Dunes
#61
Well I finally tuned my carb up and I also forgot to take off the air box lid when I posted the last stuff. I bought one of those tiny tachs, Tach , to help out with the tunning and getting my idle down, and I got it pretty good now. No more stalling anymore and it is running great, all ready for silver lake!!!! I should take out the plugs and check them out and clean them up too. Thanks for the addvice.

what's the minimum they look for when checking for a spark arrestor? my latest pipe doesn't have one. maybe I could rig something up with some screen that will get me in?

they have really cracked down on sparky's, they even noticed on my buddy's quad that he had washers in between his supertrapp disks, and turned him away!!!!
as for screen type or baffles, if they can't see it right on the end of the pipe, they stick a probe into the muffler and see how far it goes, if it goes too deep (uncertain of distance) they assume there isn't one.

scooby, if you are bringing your turbo, you don't need a sparky.

anyone know what it would take to make it through Canada to get to silver lake. I usually bring a lot of parts, tools, methanol, etc with me on a trip. Will this cause customs problems? Staying in the states to go from Rochester, NY to silver lake makes the trip much longer.

The DNR know about the turbo's, it should be no problem.
Sorry I can't help you with the Canada stuff, make sure you have your snow tires on and watch out for the bears, I hear they wander the streets in Canada.

If Scooby and Gary are there it will be worth the trip just to see these 2 awesome bikes.
