Default Oh man...need electrical help

2003 DS 650

main fuse has been blowing for a year (never could find the short)

Recently discovered that it will only blow at high rpm, hill climbs etc.

I can't make it do it at any rpm below 5500.

I've done all the tricks to try to find the short (Short of foil on the fuse ) , and have pretty much ruled out a wire causing the problem.

Could it be a charging problem? e.g. regulator? or maybe a spark plug coil shorting?

I don't know much about this stuff.

Any ideas?

The fuse holder more than likely sucks a nad(IN english is worn out) the spades sockets heating up and cooling down create a poor connection and when you demand max power she arc's inside and the fuse blows.just recrimping it will not necesarily do the job they are cheap replace it i alway put automatic circute breakers in mine.LIFES GOOD THEN.

AZ saw this happen on my bike after having it occur on his bike. Not common but, it occurs.

I'll change out the connector. Looks like an easy job.

I hope that's it!

Also, can I just put in one of those spade type automotive circuit breakers in there? Is that what you mean?
(after changing the female part of the connector, of course)

AZ replaced his with an automatic re-setting circuit breaker. It is rated for the same amps but, if it trips it will lock-out for a couple minutes then reset and you'll be good to go. Don't need to keep an extra fuse with you.

I'ld think Radio Shack or an Auto parts store would have this.

I just took a small screw driver and bent the tabs out a bit. That is a lot easier and quicker. BUT . . . I'm sure I'll have the problem again and I do keep an extra fuse with me.
