Valve spring replacement with head on
If you are changing the valves, grinding seats or putting new seat in... It's not a problem at all. But if you are using the same valves and not working on the seats, you'll have a problem.
If you have shims that are very small anyway (coming from the factory), and they shave a couple thousands off, when you go to re-shim you'll be out of luck. The shim wont be available.

You're probably fine Painter.

The one shim that I have out have a 10 stamped on it compare to the 2-05. When measured they almost are the same 0.083 (old) to 0.079 (new). You would think they would work, but I am changing the springs and the cams as wells so it will probably require different shims.
BigDaddy you said I will not be able to find different shims, how did you do yours , did you require different shims then your stock ones, if so where did you get them from ???
Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to get it all back together for a planned dune trip on the June 17th and it is a 15 hour drive to St. A's for me.
Thanks for all the help
