Default DS 650 problem

I have a 2000 DS 650 and I hit a rock and cracked the right hand side casing. It ran and started fine but just leaked oil. So I took the casing off and JB welded it. When I put it back together, the starter was binding and would not turn over, until I loosened all the bolts. But the bolts are too loose, and it leaks oil. Am I missing something? It cranks over just fine when the bolts are loose.

If you opened the case you are probably missing a washer (shim) inside, or it could be that your case got tweaked.

There is a washer that goes on the starter shaft, is that the shim you are refering to?
