I know you don't want to spend the money for a lectron 46 but everything with my quad atleast if i'm gonna put a part on it or do something I do it right the first time no matter how much more expensive it is so if you really wanted to change carbs I would go with the better one the first time instead of wanting to change in the future. But thats the way I see things.

im pretty set on the TM45 with pumper activated, along with the inframe drag slip on. they way i see it, is the drag pipe + 45mm is gonna out perform the lectron for almost the same price. (i still like the idea of dual carbs, thing would be a powerhouse lol)

The TM45 and the Lectron 46 are very close in all the catagories as far as I have been able to find out. I personally gave up my TM45 because of the throttle pull being very stiff. But Hightower has ways of fixing that. I am going to have him do those mods the the TM that is on my dads bike, and I may go back that route. The lectron has 1 maybe 2 more peak HP.

The HV46 is a 46 and should produce more HP than the TM45. People that like the TM45 like the pump. People that like the HV46, like it because the throttle comes on quicker. There are those that want that extra pony or two. There are those that havent modified everything yet and might be able to find a part that makes up for the 1 or 2 HP difference. Ive not seen any independant dyno charts myself between the two. Im somewhat divided on the needle carb concept. My Edelbrock for my EX has a metering needle and an accel pump. When it works well, its awesome. I have had some minor throttle sticking issues - but thats an Edlebrock, not a Lectron. I've had the TM45 and it was always a very good carb in my book. Get the pump working correctly and you've good a pretty good match for the DS.
Hightower and I still love the old TM45. And how can you go wrong with a Mikuni? Ive always been a miser and budget minded - so I tend to like items that fit that aspect of my life.
