why pick on the 6.0? my old man has one with 60k its an '03 and half the miles is towing and she is chipped and still going strong...

Lets just say I think he's lucky. There is a reason they are only a three year production motor. The 6.4 is off the 6.0, but with five years of development to hopefully get it right. Ask all the folks with blown head gaskets, bad turbos, tranny's, how they like there 6.0's. I would be driving a ferd if they had a good engine. The 7.3 as far as reliablity was much better. But lacked power. Of course thats just my opinion, and it isnt worth much.

One of my brothers has been in the Auto Parts industry for about 17 years. Since the Ford brought out the Powerstroke (International, I believe)..........comparing the reliability to the Dodge has been very interesting. About all he ever sold to Cummins owners were oil filters. Since the powerstroke came out he has been stocking head gaskets, injectors and has ordered a number of turbos and the truck shop he manages now sees 3 to 4 powerstrokes per week for mechanical failures. The Cummins are almost non-existant in his shop except for oil changes and routine maintenance.

Now I realize there are about 2 to 3 Fords for every Dodge out there but that still doesn't compensate.

I know there are many of you out there that have had very good luck with your 6.0's but I think the parts and repair industry can give us a little broader view of what is really going on.

I love the ergonimics of the Ford superduty trucks. But I've been dissapointed with the power, even when chipped, when compared to the Dodge cummings engine. I hate the ergo of the dodge cab. Now if Ford were to get a hold of the Cummings engine, and put a Alison tranny in there, that would be my truck.

My O5 F-350 looks like a junk yard heap with the front end taken off and motor apart LOL Needs new heads is what I heard today and of course they are on back order!!!! aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhh $50.000 pile for sale LOL we will see how it plays out first!!!! But it looks bad azz when it runs [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
