Outlander frames

I am thinking of trading next year, and probably will. But I dont know for what. I like the Bombs power and thats its biggest asset. I would probably fabricate a gaurd for it though.

I examined the frame pretty closely when I got a chance to test ride one recently and while I thought the frame was more than strong enough and was a good design it does need to be protected by a skid plate especially if it is going to be used in situations where rocks and stuff are going to be gouging and bashing the frame. Just due to it's nature it isn't something you want to scrape and bash with rocks with great regularity.
I may be totally wrong of course but that was the impression that I got.
By the way, the one I rode has frankly had the ever loving snot ran out of it and had been subjected to lots of jumping and what would probably be considered abuse. The guy who owns it is more of sport quad type and rides it like one. I saw no evidence of any cracks bent components on the bike. He's never had anything done to the machine other than a couple of the minor recall things. The winch and a speedo thing. He also had one of the first models so he got BRP to swap out his front springs for him. Other than that he said he hasn't had any issues.

It just seems that whenever a product becomes sucessful, there are un-founded rumours that are "spun" to dethrone the leader. I know i need skid plates. For the first time since owning the 800XT, I hit a couple good sized rocks. I stopped to look at the frame and there was noticable skuffs, dents, etc. So? What frame out there is indestructable? I will get the skids because it is the sensible thing to do.

Not sure what criteria one has to meet to be considered a "serious forum member" but I am serious about riding/racing.I dealt with the frame issues on the Z400 back in 03' and wasn't a pleasant experience by any stretch.I saw the post by the individual concerning the OUTY frames and figured I would bring it to the people who own them and get the facts.

Bom is far from a leader

Whether you consider BRP a leader in the industry is a matter of opinion but it's hard to argue the Outlander 800 isn't the leader in that class, it certainely won't be following many people <G>
BTW, where is Maple Lake? I used to live near Fergus Falls.

why are you in the bomb forum so much any ways? just here to cause trouble? maybe you secretly want a bomb?
before i bought my bomb i read through a lot of posts about other manufactures. theres quite a few posts reguarding the ac and its problems.

Nothing bad about bom, but they havnt been around long enough to be the leader. I also know AC isnt the leader. Its probably Honda, Polaris, or Suzuki(first on four wheels, lol). And im in the bom forums because i can be Maple Lake is west of Buffalo 8 miles, or west of Minneapolis about 40 miles
