DS Days Roll Call

Here is what I did; I accidently broke my powerjet so instead of sending the carb to Lectron, I had Dave install a superjet. With the 730 motor the bike ran the very best with the superjet completely closed, LMAO.
I had to lean the metering rod down to the point where it was too lean just off idle until the vacuum sig would allow fuel to start pulling through the super jet which compensated for the midrange all the way to the top. It worked great and made lots of power and the lean bottom right off idle actually produced better than normal throttle crispness for a lectron. It was great for drag racing but you couldn't trail it..........it was that lean That still only allowed me to open the 3 turn superjet a 1/4 turn. It really needed another circuit like an adjustable power jet that could be added and closed most of the way off so it only came on at WOT and above 7000 rpm. That would have been ideal but the superjets are so big in the carb throat, I worry about restricting air flow...........
I would look no further than a superjet for an Alky motor..........and if you are pushing NM, they are the only thing that will flow enough that can atomize.
I hope this helps

CLOSED OFF?? WOW I was making more power on the dyno with a 160 PJ than a 130..

The DMR jet has a very drastic cut on the needle of the PJ. So if you are adjusting a 1/4 at a time you are incrementing too much at a time. If you have a carb bigger then a 44 you NEED a powerjet, even on gas. When the throat of your carb is that big you loose the velocity across the venturi and that causes a weak signal and less fuel draw.
id say there is something else wrong with your carb/motor dsnut. If you truly feel the dmr jet is too big you can put in a smaller klupper style jet.
glad to hear it runs good mario. id be doing something wrong if it went slower. Besides, all you guys are bigger then me so pissing you off isnt high on my priorities list at the moment

whats going on sonny, mario my carb only has the single power jet and it is not the adjustable one. my new 48 has the single adjustable power jet on it. maybe i should send my carb out to the dr. for a little something something. all i know is that everyone at ds days should be very worried

Scott- IF sonny will do it..LOL Id send it to him. You dont know how I am chomping at the bits to get out there and mess with this. The heat is hindering this. I can turn mine a HAIR if I need to. I just cant believe what a sweet set up sonny did here. He will never admit the other tricks he does.
Also, Scott the carb I ran of yours that helped us take down them yfz's was set perfect for top end, You just need to call Eric and get my exact needle. The bottom end is rediculous. But I do recomend the beechman super for higher elevations and "fine" tuning.
Sonny, Thanks again bro. After seeing you and your pops in action I would like to send everything to you. I know you guys are so dang busy though. I just need to come down and kick it again.

I just dont know what you are talking about with that first comment . Nah, I just tinker, but im glad the tweaks worked for you.
im very busy right now (if 2big calls im definantly toooooo busy! lol jk), I have 9 motors on the bench and 4 complete bike rebuilds that i have on the schedule. i did the carb for you as a favor because you hooked me up with those sweet t-shirts. Sometime we'll have to do a motor to see if we cant give some of the guys a little more faith in the back yard builders like myself.

Looks like I will be pulling in Thursday night about 10 or so, or Fri. morning. Then possibly leaving Sat morning. After 15 years of putting in, I finally drawed a bull Elk license for a prime area here in WY. I need to do some preseason scouting. This is just shaping up to be the best DS days ever and I want to be there for atleast part of it. I will be where Jed and DsA will be I am sure. If I dont bring down the new Dune Chaser, anyone have a bed I could use for one possibly 2 nights?

Theodor, you know theres room under my trailer for you anytime j/k. the back of the truck is still open Glad you decided to come, if even for a short stay.
Under a month away ladies and gentlemen. Hope you all are making your plans. I look forward to seeing all alot of you again, and meeting many more. I never heard if there was anyone that could help me make a map and post it. So if you need better directions, just let me know. I can try and make one, and scan it onto the computer and email it to you if necessary.
Load em up, and move em out. Cuz if your looking for a good time, this were the fun begins!!!!!!!
Has anyone talked with Bill(sandman) to see if he is going to make it. Or Gary Tiffany? Or Kelley? I havent heard from them in some time. I hope they all make it again this year.
