i dont know.. maybe im useing the wrong race fuel..
i just found a little book from the gas station that sells the race gas
and it says purple is 101 and has oxygen in it......
ill have to check tomarow........

I would say that you are shy on octane - You'll need at least 110 or more (depending on your elevation - more for sea level) with a 14:1 piston in my opinion. 101 oxy fuel? tsk tsk tsk. Running lean on gas will starve horsepower.

12-1 at sea level should be about 97 octane. 13-1 at sea level should be about 105 octane. I run our 14-1 at 4500' at 101, with a 145 main jet. Thats 109 cams, 14-1, tm 45, ct drag pipe, snorkel, and a vortex. That was what was in the bike when I bought it from Marky, and he ran it and had it dynoed at sea level, and thats the jet that made the numbers. It still runs good at 5000' awell.

the hr3 will build more cylinder pressure then the 109 making his lean condition and need for higher octane even worse. he might want to consider alky , cams that bleed a little cylinder pressure, or opening the head up a little to lose some compression if this combo proves to sensitive to preignition.

12:1 105 octane

Thats what I've run in the past. Of course, the higher the elevation, then you can bring that down.
Feel free to run whatever you want, but be aware that its not dangerous to run too much octane. Running the right jetting and octane will give you the most horsepower.
Thats it for me - Im out of this thread!
Oh, thats standard race gas. If you decide to go with VP, I'd choose the C12 for both piston compression types.

Being that he bought from HPR, he should call them. should they have told him at the time of purchase what fuel to run, and some ideals on jetting<---- this is some of the things I get bent on , folks buy these items with out asking questions, FLUX do some reserch on this site, you will learn lots about your quad, and get vase amounts of info from some smart guys on this forum,

That is an excellent suggestion. You can also go to VP fuels and ask them after giving them your compression ratio. Octane is not the only thing that serves in curtailing pre-ignition. There are other additives that they use to also do the same thing.
Woops! Dang it! I repleyed to this thread again!
