nos setup ?'s

how does nos work on a stock motor. we will use my setup as a example. i have a 11-5-1 piston and piped, jetted, filter. ported intake as well. i also am running a aftermarket cdi. i ride trails and do a little racing but would love a kick in the pants every now and then. is nos worth it for me and what would i have to change on my quad?

Nos will do great on your bike I would not exceed a 20 shot. Just to make sure everything is good I would set up your nos then take it to a shop with a dyno so while you are dooing pulls to dial in your nos you can moniter your air fuel mixture so you don't run it lean.
NOS and a lean condition = blown motor

i have the JE piston. i purchased it from ron wood a few years ago. i was interested in head work and a bigger carb and all that but honestly if i can get results at the puch of a button without tearingmy motor apart. that sounds great. i actually am happy with the power now but would like to fend off the raptor 700's and built 450's
note- i purchased the 12-5-1 piston and have been told by multiple people that they have been measured at closer to 11-5-1. dont know if there is any truth to that.
i am interested in the boss system but what makes it better than the bd system. anyone who owns either feel free to chime in

LOL:-) I was thinking about going in that direction myself with the nos setup, And have a couple questions myself, How long will a 5lb/10lb bottle last ? How often will they need refilling on average ? What are the NOS prices lately ? Thanks

Bombsaint its a little bit bigger can of worms than it seems, for where we are the nitrous would only be used for flat drags where the biggest variable is holeshot, and for you to be able to launch on the bottle in order to really shine you will need more swingarm, all the hp in the world is worthless if it can't be controlled. And more swingarm means larger turning radius and you have to consider what that means on the tight trails you ride the most. you'll drop $1500 before its all over, IMO.
I say put the money into permanent full time motor mods that you will truly appreciate all day long next year if you head to idaho with us! don't get me wrong I'm not downplaying nitrous, I think its awesome and a lot of fun, just throwing out food for thought as you ponder.
