Default What Dunefest used to be like

Ok guys, I've posted some pictures on my photo page I found on my computer taken on the very last Dunefest that was the most popular before all the crack downs (about 4 years ago). This is the same Dunefest found in the movie Quicksand III. Check out the drags - and all the people on the sidelines!

I don't know Marky, after looking at your pictures I think there was more people lining the drag strip this year.

The old Dunefest had attendance numbers as high as 20,000 people. I hear of numbers even higher. It was wall to wall people nearly all of the time. I've never seen such activites in my life on the dunes - And probably never will again. I've got stories that would make you smile, hurl, and curl your toes all at the same time . It reminded me a lot of what some of the national Harley events have now. I think that the community of Winchester Bay just said enough was enough. But, they do seem to be striking a happy medium now without things getting out of hand. But Sandbomber and RaptorRandy27, man I dont think you are going to convince me there was as many poeple there as in years past. On the most popular days, the entire sand area around it was completely full of people, standing room only. In fact, up on the south side of the drag, people were climbing the trees to get a view of the drags - Thats no fib there at all.
