Rebuilt a TM45 this weekend that has been on alky for a couple of years. Alky was ran out of carb but never purged as far as I know; just food for thought since I know this has been a debate in the past.

Thats why I purge after every day when running alk. Some dont but thats what happens. I usually run the bike for around 5 mins with gas.

 

How long has it been sitting. Thats the worst Ive ever seen one. I could see if you didnt ride it for several days. The topend lube seems to help with that

 

A few weeks since DS Days at Silver Lake, but the alcohol was ran out of the carb if it was going to be sitting longer than a few minutes.

 

A few minutes ? How long can you let your bike sit durring the day when you are racing before you have any problems and what would be your main concerns?

 

I would say a day or two is okay but like I said I run a topend lube and have never seen it that bad. Ive seen a little chalk in them in the bowl but that was after a couple of weeks. Was that straight methanol?

 

Looks like some nitro could have been in that.

 

fess up JMann2380 did you put some nitro in there ?

 

haha, no, you were there the only days I ran it on Methanol and it was straight stuff from VP Racing fuels, the M1. I also used a top end lube. Anytime it was sitting for a period of time I ran the alky out of the carb but never purged it. But as you know it has been run on alky before I bought it and I am sure it took longer than the 2 months I owned it for this to happen.
