800 Mudlite XTRs on Stock Rims???
Hi all,
I am looking at replacing my ACT tires on my 06 800 XT.
I decided to go with the MudLite XTR's on STOCK rims. Tried the XTR 27's on ITP type 7's but too wide and a little too slow for me off the line and in the mid-range.
Can anyone help me with the following questions?
- What size XTR is the same physical size as my stock ACT's? My ACT's with 1600 kms and 5psi are 25.5" to top of tread. I know from my searches that some people are only getting 24.5"
Would like to know the "real" height of XTR's (25's and 26's) when they are mounted on rims and inflated? Again just want to match up to what I got [/
- What size XTR can be run on stock rims without clearance issues (or worries)?
P.S. I have searched for a couple of days now and haven't been able to find the answers to my questions. I have seen that some guys are running 27's with no issues so I assume that 25 or 26 will be fine but I don't want to assume if someone can help me out
Even sent off an email to ITP and got a crap response...basically said go with same size as what I have and everything will be fine....duhhhh, ITP doesn't make a 26x8 or a 26x10
Thanks in advance,
Fudster

800 Mudlite XTRs on Stock Rims???
I also am looking for the answer to this question. I tried the 27" XTR's and they are way to big and stick out past the fenders about 2-3 inches. I wonder if there is a stock rim from another manufacturer that would be close enough to work. I have three bent rims from my outty 800(yes it took a plunge off a precipace) and Can Am wants $123 a piece for them! Too much $$ for a plain jane stocker.
The other option is standard Mudlites with the deeper tread.

800 Mudlite XTRs on Stock Rims???
found this on another post.....
My dealer tells me to be carefull what tires i put on my 800 xt. He says you can't just go puttin' any ole tire on. He went on to say that he has this one customer that put on ITP Mud Lite XTR's, and he rides real hard, and he has had to put several front drive axles in. I don't really know from experience how true that might be. The Carlisle A.C.T 's work pretty good so far for me.

800 Mudlite XTRs on Stock Rims???
Just as an FYI....
Did some more tire measurements at my dealer and found the following:
- My 2006 800 XT w/Carlisle ACT 26 x 8 w/5 psi 25.5" tall (1800 km)
- Checked 3 bikes at dealer...all were brand new 2007 800 XT's w/Carlisle ACT 26 x 8 w/5 psi ONLY 24.5" tall
My only guess is that the new chrome rims are affecting the physical height of the tires?
Haven't measured any other 2006's so I am only going by mine...mine might just be an odd ball

Quad Mag. needs to re- look the basic physics here so they can understand that when taller tires are used with the BRP Visco-Lok the lockup time is actually less than it would be with a smaller tire. On a friends Traxter 500 5 speed he has no trouble at all with the Visc-lok unit while running Outlaw 28", and my own Traxter Max is able to run right with him.
Also by having lots more traction, perhaps the Visco-lok would be used less than before..........
