I had a problem with the dealer that I bought my ds from I took it in for the recall about the rear axle nut coming loose they said that it had a crack in it when i brought it in thats BS since I inspected it before I took it in and they said it wasn't covered I called thecustomer servise people they opened a case and then after 3 month said the determined it was not a factory defect and wouldn't do anything for me. needless to say someones going to pay for it one way or another and it's not going to be me.

Hey Dave, I did get one from a dealer last week. It just so happened that my heighbors parents own a dealership about three hours away. They were really cool and took one of a new machine that had a few other problems and has since turned into a parts bike. They told me Bombardier was sending them another whole bike to replace the one being used for parts. (their way of appoligizing for all the back-orders) I also had a plastic shope in town weld my broken fender back togather. Been working pretty good so far.

The only thing I find wrong with the Raptor is it Size. It is just to small and too narrow for me. I due not want to spend approx $2200.00 for new a-arms, rear axel and swing arm.

Actually it was all very simple and came with good instructions. The only problem I had was taking the carb apart. Aparently when my dealer installed the upgrade parts (2000 to 2001) they over tightened the screws. (to the point of stripping the heads of the screws) So after completly removing the carb and going through the whole thing I replased the screws with small hex bolts that also have inset allens in the heads. I bought them out of a specialty catalog that I had for my race car.
I have been really pleased with the performance so far but am looking into a pipe purchase fairly soon.

There is nothing wrong with a raptor, its a fast machine but look at the new 4 wheel action, to fix its stability problems they replaced front and rear shocks, wider a arms, wider rear axle, wider rims all to make it more like a DS 650.There will always be more after market parts for the raptor because the DS comes with the good stuff from the factory.
