water pump?
#2
Have you been riding in water? It could be water got into your weep hole from water riding and is now dripping out BUT. . . every time I've seen it. . . This is an indicator to let you know your water pump seal has gone.
There is a shaft that goes from the engine through the clutch-cover to the water pump. The water pump is part of the clutch-cover kinda.
The shaft has two seals. . . one on the water pump side and one on the oil side.
Let this go and your engine oil will turn milky due to water in it from leaking into the engine.
You should be down a little bit on coolant.
You'll need two seals (one for the coolant side and one for the oil side) a new clutch-cover gasket (you can probably re-use yours but don't want to get started on the job by pulling the clutch cover and tearing the gasket only to have to stop and go to the dealer for a $8 part. I'ld suggest a new water pump impeller with shaft. Honestly, the best place to get them is from BMW because the impeller comes already pressed on to the shaft (Pain in the A$$ to do it yourself).
Check out the F650 FAQ site for instructions.
When you pull off your clutch cover engine oil will pour out. I've done this job with the quad on its side to avoid having to change the oil.
