Can-Am forum NOT only DS650 forum!!!
#1
It's about time that "this" Can-Am forum is not dominated by DS650 talk!!!!!
I own a DS. I also own Outlanders. This forum does squat for the rest of the Bombardier/Can-Am crowd. In fact, I've seen questions and comments about "other" BRP quads go completely unanswered!!!!
I don't care if it's boring or not. I'd rather see this forum acting on it's title rather than "only" DS talk.
The current DS650 is dead!!! How long has it been since they improved it from the factory? Face facts, the current incarnation of the DS is not going anywhere.
If this forum was more "Can-Am" friendly there would be more going on.
The DS people talking smack about other DS people doesn't help.

Actually, the DS is going to be discontinued from the manufacturer very soon. The new 450 will be announced soon and I have heard rumors about two versions of an 800 sport quad, complete with gears! One version would be designed for a larger rider and a second version designed for a smaller rider.
BRP is committed to designing and releasing ATVs that area little different then the rest. Heck, BRP was working on a side X side until Yamaha released the Rhino, causing BRP to shelve their design as they want to be different and a leader in the ATV industry.
Personally, I think BRP ought to re-consider and make an 800 EFI side X side long travel. They would dominate the market, especially since the Rhino drive train is so weak.

12many, You join in 2006 to a forum that traditionally was 99% about DS650s and whine no one will respond to questions about your utility quad? I used to look around the net for other Bombardier forums and I know there were a few that were 90+% utility. Why not look around for a better forum or contribute more yourself.
If you really want someone to Weigh in on utility quads, I think they are far to heavy and that make them dangerous, if a 400lb quad rolls on you, it can get uncomfortable. When you get above 500lbs, all those racks and hard metal parts sticking out start crushing bones and tearing bodies up. I know of too many people severly injured from utility quads. Most of the people were using them for trail bikes and that is what they are targeted for, but they are best suited for towing a small trailer.
azsandrider, I'd hate to see the DS discontinued but I doubt I'd buy another one. I've been riding a friends modded YFZ and it's the first bike I've been on that I haven't wanted to trade back bikes immediately. It's a little small but the power, light weight and handling are getting to me.

You got a question about another BRP product start a thread. How is it our fault if it doesnt get answered. Dont get me wrong I like the Outlanders but dont gripe at us if no one replys to your threads. Most of us dont ride stock quads anyway. We get on here and talk about upgrades, conversions and even just talk to friends we've made here on the forums. You've got it all wrong we fly the BRP flag also

Since when is stating the facts whining?
As far as the weight of utility quads verses sport quads. The DS is a 500 pound behemoth from the factory. Even heavier in Baja or the X trim!
I didn't say my posts went unaswered, I said I've seen posts go unanswered.
Like I've stated, I own a DS. I'm sorry it's been produced for sooo long without improvements. In todays market, change is what keeps a product around.
If I we're to buy a new quad, it would be the new Kawasaki Kfx450. Lightweight, electric start, fuel injected, reverse, and with a manual transmission.
I own several BRP/Can-Am products. When they come out with something similar to the Kfx, I will own one of them also.
