Let me tell you a story that makes me sick to this day.
A friend of mine was on a top fuel team and he traveled around the country racing. He hooked up with this guy that was in the airforce salvage game. He told me that they would chop up jet airplanes and put them in a smelter. They would then pour the aluminum off.
Do you know what was left? Yep, Ti hardware.
He said he could get me a 5 gallon pail of the stuff for 50 bones!!!! I passed at the time because I did not have any projects going on at the time that needed to be super light.
I talked to the guy the other day to get me some trick Ti hardware and he told me there is no way to contact the guy. On an off the subject note, years ago I picked up a Ti small block Chevy rod; and all I have to say is..............I was speachless!!!!!! I wonder if anybody has made a small block stroker crank out of this stuff?
