dropping names? what other names have I dropped? there are so many errors in your statement that I dont know where to start. first off I run a fuel that WILL NOT allow my motor to detonate . the only fuel thats better is a fuel vp calls air race which will handle over 50psi of boost and is way out of my price range and Im currently paying around 13 a gallon for c16 which is plenty for my application anyway. Im not saying an intercooler is a bad thing in the propper application but it will do more harm than good on an atv. I can see it on a car where its mounted out in front of the vehicle and has forced air blowing over it constantly for long periods of time but intercoolers require mass air flowing over them to cool them and dont instantly cool and if you are doing drag passes at say 90mph for maybe 5 or 6 seconds a pass it wont help you one one bit because there isnt time for it to cool. also where would you mount it ? LOL.out front of the radiator? it will increase the length of your intake so much that you will notice serious lag. again I am building a dunerider / hill racer and it sounds llike you care nothing about off boost performance or rideabillity . you will feel a difference after dropping the compression even 1 point and will also notice a rougher transition when the bike makes boost. also ," to drop a name ", pct is Tim of pacific coast toys who owns pacific coast towers and lives an hour or so from me . we talk all the time about turbos and tranny problems and I have bought parts from him a couple times. he has actually offered to let me ride his bike but I declined as I didnt want to break it and that would be just my luck. LOL .hell we were supposed to camp together this xmas at glamis and take a trip into mexico. he has no intercooler and no water injection and only uses the nos to get the big turbo he runs to spool quicker. 300hp at 15psi in realistic rear wheel hp. 350 is not! maybe at the crank but what does that matter? and by the way, purple is g@y....[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Dstroyer, I want to make it clear, that I am not saying anyone should not run a intercooler, or any method of cooling the intake charge. It is a common known fact that cooler intake charges, no matter how they are attained, are better. All I am saying is, you dont have to have one to create power. They allow us to create more power, with less quality fuel. Fuel is always the limiting factor.

For instance, and sorry that this is on a snowmobile, but it's my level of experience, besides my trucks. Oh and just for clarification, it is a Apex. Basically same thing as an rx-1 engine, but FI, lighter crank, and a couple other things. But anyhow, If I want to run pump gas. I have options. If say I want to run 12 psi boost, I will need to lower my compression down to the point that deto is not a problem. However, the lower comp now gives me great lag, poor throttle response, and so on. However, I choose to run straight avgas. Its a 100 octane low lead. It allows me to run the same 12lbs of boost on my stock compression of 11.8 - 1. I have great throttle response, minimal lag, and so on. I know you know all this, but I am just trying to make my point.

Onto other questions. What turbo is everyone using on there quads? On my sled, I run a Garrett 28rs.

I never said an intercooler was the way to go on an atv! Of course it isnt!! Your not hitting 140 plus on a road course.!!! SST, you need to stop reading between the lines and respond to what was typed, maybe even read some of your own posts once in a while. LOL Your right, this thread cant go anywhere, and this is my last post on it. I had fun with it!!

You mentioned the Raptor DS and I built so I just came on saying this bike has a rear mounted gas tank that you dont like for reasons you've mentioned it several times now.

I didnt start anything. I never took a swing at you in any way. I never personally attacked you. I never said you were a bad guy. Never called you any names. Never said you didnt know what your talking about.

What I said in my own way was that my bike ( which you mentioned first) had a rear mounted tank , Which you dont like, And that i don't care. I know that, while its easy, there are negatives to it. They've been addressed. Shoot, if I was all that worried about 20 stinkin pounds of suspended weight, I'd go on a diet. And that aint happening. LOL

The rear tank really seems to be a big deal with you and thats fine. Personally I think some people that are trying to build a bike like these have bigger issues to deal with than placement of a stupid gas tank.
Maybe what they really need is for us to teach them how to place a motor in the right spot.
How to set up a swingarm and suspension. Important things that will actually let the bike function properly. But NO, lets sit here on the internet and squalk about gas tanks. LOL
