Out of six that started 4 DS650's finished. They took 89th, 97th, 105th, and 122nd in the bike category. These six plus to Outlanders were the only quads in the race.

Well done DS's(and outties)... did Bomb proud again.

That reminds me... i was watchin that series on OLN "Race to Dakar" (2006) When that guy on the last stage was doin some commentary on the race, he looked over with his helmet cam and said that there were 3 guyz on ATV's that rode together the whole race. I believe all 3 were DS's?

Is this rite? Under 1/3 of the starters of the race only finish?

Actually, the overall winner of the Quads was a Czech on a Yamaha Banshee. Second overall quad was in the 0-400CC class and was a Suzuki. These were the only two quads in this class to finish.

The Can-Ams finished after those to but were 2nd-5th in the 401+ CC class. They Banshee is listed in the 401+ CC class but the starting roster lists him as a 350 CC??? They were the only 401+ CC quads to finsh.

So, overall: 1 Yamaha, 1 Suzuki, and 4 Can-Ams. Just finishing is impressive.

Here are the overall quad results copied & pasted from the Dakar website:

1 260 MACHACEK (CZE) YAMAHA 71:40:26 00:00:00 13:00
2 261 AVENDANO (ESP) SUZUKI 76:55:15 05:14:49 02:03:00
3 256 PENA (ESP) CAN - AM 78:18:58 06:38:32
4 252 MOREL (FRA) CAN - AM 80:41:33 09:01:07
5 251 MOREL (FRA) CAN - AM 82:42:46 11:02:20
6 257 FILLATRE (FRA) CAN - AM 94:41:20 23:00:54

Thanks for the info on the Dakar!!

I kept watchine it on OLN, but nobody covered the quads in it. Thats to bad. Ive watched the baha 1000, and thought, man, I would love to do that. But when i see the Dakar, I think to myself, that looks brutal. LOL

I wonder what it would take to create a team to race that thing. What kind of dollars?? Anyone want to take a guess??

I wonder what mods they made to those bikes to make them handle that abuse
